Biodiesel Testing 2005 PDF Print E-mail

Australian Biodiesel Testing Forum 2005There will be an event held in Melbourne on the 27th &28th of October 2005 regarding biodiesel testing standards and methods. The registration fee for this is $1250, inc. GST. Below is some introduction text from the attached PDF.

There has been lots of discussion regarding application of the Biodiesel Standard test methods and the
variations seen in the results by the biodiesel and petroleum industry world-wide. As a direct result of the
wide variety of feedstocks being used in Australia, the subsequent variability and confusion in test method
results does not provide the clarity or assurance distributors, end-users and regulators need.
This course is designed to bring producers, labs, distributors and regulators together with perhaps the best
knowledge of the Australian biodiesel test methods in the world. Martin and his team have worked on virtually
all possible biodiesel feedstocks and is currently negotiating the development of new test methods for the EU.
Through this course, you will learn the importance and application of each of the test methods in the
Australian Standard with a focus on additives for Oxidative Stability and the Gas Chromatograph test methods
(Ester Content, Total and Free Glycerol). This will include hands-on preparation of samples and a workshop
on anyalysing/interpreting the results. There will even be a visit to the newly installed Cetane test unit – a first
of its kind for Australia.

Please download the PDF form for further info.

Or discuss this in the forum.

Sydney Biodiesel - UNSW's mobile Solar Powered Biodiesel Reactor
7/9/05 - The first Meeting of the Sydney Biodiesel Users Group was hosted by Cameron of the EcoLiving Centre. It was an informal gathering around the BBQ, with a quick trip over to the Uni carpark for a look inside the solar powered mobile biodiesel producing trailer.

We were told some good news:

By the end of this month, the Gosford plant should be distributing biodiesel made to Australian Standards via Sydney Waterways Constructions in Rozelle Bay. The plan is to have a mobile tanker filled on site and available to users to fill directly into their tanks. Pricing is up to the distributor, but it is intended to be competitive with petrodiesel.
More information on this will be posted up here when available.

In the mean time, please feel free to ask questions or discuss this in the forums.
