There has been some confusion about site registrations since this site
was opened and being a new thing to most of you, I thought I'd better
post up an explanation on how it all works for you.
The main site – sydneybiodiesel.com is for all of our
contributions and is arranged as a static website, informing and
promoting biodiesel in Sydney and in Australia in general.
Our web forums – biofuelsforum.com, are linked from the main site and are intended to be the central connection point for our members to communicate through.
Registration for both sites is required separately. I’d suggest that all members need a forum registration, but only the members who wish to submit information to be posted on the main site need register there. Of course, all registrations are completely free.
A more detailed explanation follows.
How does this site work?
There are actually 2 sites that work together here:
1. Sydney Biodiesel Users Group – www.sydneybiodiesel.com
2. Bio Fuels Forum – www.biofuelsforum.com
This site (sydneybiodiesel.com) is the main site for our group.
This site contains news and announcements that are relevant to the
Sydney biodiesel scene. This site is designed to be our main promotion
point, to draw in new users and searchers who are interested in using
biodiesel in Sydney or learning more about it. Additionally, it will
also promote the use of biodiesel in a broader sense.
This site is designed for user contributions. Our members are encouraged to post their own material. This includes News Articles of interest, Announcements, Frequently Asked Questions, Biodiesel Information and Web Links.
To contribute to this site, a member must first register, then request permission
to publish on the site. Upon completion of registration, an email is
automatically sent with an activation link. (Please ensure that you
have given a valid email address or you will not be able to activate
your account). Our user registration information is kept private. Any
contributions will be approved by us first before they are shown on the
site. Once publishing access is granted, contributing material is very
easy and can all be done directly from the site. There is no software
needed, it can all be done from inside your web browser. Please
contribute to the site to make it a better place – it is for everybody.
Our web forums
are actually run on a separate site, though they are linked from our
main site. There are a few technical reasons for this, but the main
reason was to offer a broader audience than just for our Sydney group,
should any other groups or individuals ever wish to use the forums
there.
The biofuels forum site
is designed for people to discuss any issues in a free and easy manner
and for this discussion to be published and displayed on line for all
to benefit from. The forum will also be used to organise any events, or
logisitics among our group. User registrations here are separate to our sydneybiodiesel site. The memberlist
for the forums can be publicly displayed, but no private information is
shown (unless you specifically choose to make your’s available). Upon
completion of registration in the forums,
a new user will be sent an email link to activate their account
automatically. (Please ensure that you have given a valid email address
or you will not be able to activate your account). Once activated, a
member can immediately post answers or ask questions in the forums.
There is also a calendar in the forums, which only registered users can
access. This can be used to coordinate events among our group.
Forum members can enable an option to subscribe to a particular forum
thread and also request reminders of calendar events. Mass emails will
not be used to distribute information to all members (except in rare
circumstances as required), rather members will need to set their own
choices for notification and to monitor the forums for any new
information.
If you require any further information or assistance, please contact us - we'd be happy to help.
