Alias in forum: IMA69R
Location: Ryde Vehicle: 1991 Toyota (GXL 5 Speed) Landcruiser (With 170 Litre "Auxiliary Tank") with after market Cruise Control. 265+ Litre Fuel Capacity = 1,800 + Km. (Highway) fuel range. Interest in Biodiesel:
I like the environmental aspect of; recycling, as opposed to just taking mineral fuels out of the ground. I found (when using Biodiesel) my car performed better. I became a "convert" then. I had noticeably:
- MORE POWER/TORQUE/EFFICIENCY from my (smoother/quieter) motor;
- BETTER Fuel Consumption, and therefore, greater fuel range;
- LESS Exhaust smoke/soot. No longer "smoking" under load up hills (like a shuttle launch);
- And, to top it off, my exhaust "smelled like a BBQ" !
Used Biodiesel for:
My Brother introduced to Biodiesel, some years ago, when it used to be on sale up at Hexham. It was on sale at a service station, near the Hexham Bridge (north of Newcastle), and at that time, Biodiesel cost around 20 cents/Litre LESS than normal Diesel, in Sydney. As my car holds 265+ litres (fully fuelled). PLUS I bought 15x 20 Litre Gerry Cans to take along, totalling 500+ Litres per fill!
To me, the savings are obvious. Buying 500+ litres of Biodiesel in Newcastle (back then), was cheaper than the same amount of mineral diesel purchased locally.
Besides, my brother lives on the central coast, so I would make a weekend trip to visit him, then we would both go to fuel my car together (It's a MALE thing).
Other comments:
BIODIESEL is the future !
A reusable energy source, that (like Beer), you can make for yourself, at home.
In my view; it can't get any better than that!
